One year ago I was absolutely in love with M.I.A's song "Jimmy" and some days ago, I found this cover version of one of my favourite US Indie Bands "of Montreal". The weird thing is - M.I.A covered this song (she took it from a Bollywood-movie) and "of Montreal" managed to give it an interesting twist.
Anyway, here are some great coversongs...with links to the original versions, enjoy :)
of Montral - Jimmy (M.I.A Cover)
Vienna Teng - Cannonball (Damien Rice Cover)
really nice cover :)
Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd Cover)
some people will hate me for that...but I like their cover :-X I know that a lot of Pink Floyd fans hate it and think it's terrible..but come on, it's totally different from the original Version and it's just a "fun song".
Sam Sparro - American Boy (Estelle Cover)
Estelle's song seems to be everywhere right now...I like his version more, I must say...
Rufus Wainwright - Chelsea Hotel (Leonard Cohen Cover)
I could have posted his well-known cover of Halleluliah, but I decided to share this wonderful song with you...
Fiona Apple - I want you (Elvis Costello Cover)
together with Elvis Costello...very powerful!
Tori Amos - Lovesong (The Cure Cover)
She has a lot of amazing covers (I prefer her Version of Eminem's '97 Bonnie&Clyde and Nirvana's Smells like Teenspirit :P ) and this one is...unbelievable.
well, of course there are many many more good covers out there...feel free to post some of your favourites as a comment ;)

...I better be prominently featured...
...in your next slideshow!
I added a new feature...well, two, actually.
A nice, cool, groovy, sexy SLIDESHOW...and a radio-player from my last.fm profile - in case you're bored and want to listen to some music.
I'm not sure if I should add a new "shoutbox", because I don't want to add too many things...well, that's how it is for now. It could be that I will change my mind tomorrow and delete the sexy slideshow or the deluxe radioplayer...
Gosh, it's about time that I start working again...I have too much time on my hands :P

Manuel and the chocolate factory
Hi! (gosh, do I really have to say that everytime I post something? ;) )
Today I noticed one thing - I'm living in a town with a chocolate factory (Suchard, Milka...the one with the purple cow) and besides the nice chocolate smell, that you can smell sometimes, it has also the benefits of a nice and big (and quite cheap) chocolate shop. However, I NEVER go there. Scandal! I went there today (for the second time I think) and I promised myself to go there more often now ;)
Totally random, isn't it...
I took a picture with my mobile (or cell phone :P ) and I thought I should take the chance and upload some of the pictures I took with my mobile. Often when I go out I see something that I want to take a picture of...and I don't have my camera with me, so I take my mobile instead. The pics aren't really good and most of them are from Sweden (ohhh nice memories ;) ).
You can see them here.

"homesick"
Hi everybody!
One year ago I was going crazy/nervous because of my journey to Sweden...now, one year later, I miss Sweden and I wish I could go there again.
On Friday evening, I was walking home from a friend, the weather was warm and nice, and I was thinking that I could ask some friends if they want to do a BBQ with me. Then I realized "oops, I'm not in Sweden anymore" - the shops were closed (it was 8 o'clock), nobody has a cheap "use it one time, then throw it away"BBQ grill here and finding a place to do a nice BBQ is harder than in Sweden. But it's not just that - I miss the people, the shops, the cities, the language...and even the swedish television. Well, I guess that's normal after such a long time away from home...Still, I really want to go back soon.
Yesterday I met some old classmates for lunch. I haven't seen some of them for more than 1 year..it was really cool to talk about the good old times and exchange the latest news/gossip about other classmates. One girl is pregnant, another one will go to Indonesia to work, others are studying in Barcelona/Canada or russia...it's weird but totally cool at the same time. One of my friends from school knows about nearly everyone and I really admire her for that. She knows how to keep in touch with everyone (more or less) and even though she doesn't call them or writes them, she still seems to know what they are up to, just because she hears it from somebody else or meets them somewhere.
So, that's it for now...one more thing: Right now I'm OBSESSED with Sigur Rós...such a great band! Here's a video of their most popular song:
enjoy :)
vi ses :)

The titan arm
Hi!
Just a short message - I survived the surgery :) They removed the old titan plate and replaced it with a longer one...I don't know how this could fit into my arm, but well..it works. I have a small cast now :) At least something good... And they gave me the old plate for a souvenir :D
enjoy the pics :P

Good times and bad times
Hi!
I'm sure most people know that feeling: You're happy, everything in your life seems to be perfect and everything is, as is should be. And then...BANG...something happens which throws you completely off track. For me, my broken arm was such a thing. But somehow I didn't really care that much...I still had a good time in Sweden, I still started my internship as planned, I still went to the EuroCup with Hong...I behaved as if nothing had happened. I did all the things I usually do - just with one arm, which was annoying but OK.
Yesterday I went to the hospital...the plan was to remove the cast, because the bone should be strong enough now...So I went there, excited and happy to finally "get my arm back". They removed my cast and made an x-ray. Afterwards I had to wait for 30 minutes, what made me a bit concerned...What do they have to talk about? If everything's OK they would call me in immediately and tell me to go home, but they didn't.
When they finally called me in the nurse said that I need another cast for 2 weeks, because the bone doesn't seem to be strong enough yet. OK, I thought, I can handle 2 more weeks with the small cast. But then the doctor came, checked the x-ray and said that I need another surgery...! F.CK! Apparently the plate they insterted is not long enough (they thought it is long enough) and they have to make it longer, so that the bone can't get away from the plate...or something like that. I was too shocked/angry/sad to listen...So, I have another surgery on thursday..and then everything starts all over again (according to the doctor). 3 weeks a big cast, 3 weeks a smaller one. And this time it really knocked me off the track... I will NEVER take part in a pillowfight again! F.CK!
Anyway, life goes on (with or without surgery :P )..The brightside of everything - I have a week off. I called my boss yesterday and she was really nice and very obliging, telling me that I should come back as soon as I fell "the time is right". So I'm at home and I can meet some friends, talk bad about the hospital :P and eat good food. Tonight my mother will prepare "Ribl", a typical meal from my part of Austria...I really don't know how to explain it, but it's delicious (pics will follow :P ).
Talking of pictures...finally, some pictures!!

Mamma Mia!
I'm still in the ABBA frenzy after watching Mamma Mia yesterday :P (although it was dubbed :-X)
The movie is funny and good, so I recommend it to everyone who likes ABBA and/or musicals.
Anyway, the cliché that it's a "gay movie" is certainly true. Even in the very small cinema (in my even smaller hometown) were 7 gay guys (if my "gaydar" was working correctly) , which really surprised me, but it was cool. But my best friend (male and straight) wasn't too comfortable...On the one hand, I understand that - the only straight guy in between a bunch of gays and women [although some of the women had their boyfriends with them], but on the other hand I think that it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Anyway, before this whole blog gets too gay and too ABBA-ish, I better stop now.
So, what else is there to say...not much, to be honest. I will go back to munich tomorrow afternoon, since I need to go to the hospital in the morning (finally my cast is coming off)...Oh, and I was at the hairdresser yesterday (exciting, eh?). It was one of the best hairdresser-experiences I've ever had. I went there (to a new coiffeur who opened recently) and he (yes, a guy) asked me, what I'd like to have. I explained my usual hairstyle to him and he started to make suggestions and gave me a really good advice. He really took the time to look at my hair, how it grows, the shape of my head etc. and recommended something completely different - very short. I told him to do whatever he thinks is right...and well, now my hair is really short, but I think I like it. Most of the people around me told me that it looks good, so I guess I just need to get used to it.
So, that was the exciting "Manuel having his hair done" story (also kind of gay if you think about it...damn, I really need to stop doing this ;) )
And before I start writing about other random stuff I better log off now...I seriously hope that I have some more exciting stories to share next time...and some pictures ;)
bye

Coolness & Calmness & Gayness
Hi everybody!
Finally - a new entry. The last few weeks have been very busy and I wasn't in the mood for writing, so sorry for the lack of updates of my oh-so-exciting life ;)
First of all - I moved to Munich. I got a very nice room in an apartement with 3 other people (all of them around my age) and started my job on the 1st of July.
I like it so far - sometimes I have a lot of work, sometimes I have more freetime than I'm used to. My job consists of a lot of different things - mainly I have to edit something, but of course I also do the stuff an intern has to do (= stuff that nobody else wants to do).
I haven't seen much of Munich yet...it's weird, I've been here for almost 3 weeks now and still haven't been in the city center. I met Lena and Lucia (2 girls I know from Karlstad) and they showed me around a bit...but I really don't know anything about munich right now, but I hope this will change soon.
Anyway, I could write endlessly about Munich, my job and other stuff that bothers me (e.g the very annoying, f%$%§ stupid public transport system in munich...don't get me started ;) ). But before I bore you to death, some other stuff...
On Saturday I was in Vienna, joining the GayPride ("Regenbogenparade"). Usually I'm not a fan of huge (gay) events, the gay scene and stuff like that, but I really enjoyed the parade. The weather was perfect and the people were in a good mood...it was fun to watch all the "crazy people" and nice to see so many gay/lesbian couples on the street. That's what I really enjoyed - not having to "hide". I know that sounds quite harsh and as if I act in daily life situations, but what I'm trying to say (in a very clumsy way) is, that it felt good to walk on the street with my arms around my boyfriend, knowing that nobody really cares, because we're a same-sex couple among many. Hope you get my point...
Other than that - some people were really strange and chliché, but it was funny anyway :)
And the gay(mad)ness continues - this weekend I will watch "Mamma Mia!", the ABBA musical/movie...according to my trusted lifestyle magazine "attitude" it's one of the gayest movies of 2008 ;), I'm looking forward to it.
So, that's it for now...pictures will come soon, I promise...and I promise to write again soon.
